Install JDK 1.5 on Ubuntu Natty.
JDK 1.5 is not included by default in Ubuntu 11.04 software repositories,
also JDK 1.5 is not included by default even in Ubuntu 10.10 software repositories and not included in Ubuntu 10.04 and maybe 9.10 but i am not sure for the last one.

So if we want to use it, we need to find a different way to install it.

Here is the easiest way to instal java and jdk 1.5 on Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04:

1- Open /etc/apt/sources.list with a text editor like gedit:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

2- Add the following lines to the end of the file then save it and close:
 

## For sun-java5-jdk deb http://ir.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-updates main multiverse

 

3- Update the packages lists and install sun-java5-jdk:

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install sun-java5-jdk
